Five days into NaNoWriMo and things are movin’ right along.
I hit 15,000 words today and am cruising to 20,000. I’m feeling rather footloose and fancy-free!
To celebrate, I took another mini puzzle break. As I mentioned before, I have banned myself from working on larger puzzles until after I hit 25,000 words. Motivation to keep writing. Instead, I have been taking some mini puzzle breaks. I can usually put together a mini puzzle in about 30 minutes or so.
I love these 150 gradiant puzzles from Laurence King Publishing. This one is Hopefulness.
So far, I’m averaging a bit over 3500 words a day. If I keep up this average, I’ll hit 50,000 words on November 14. While I’ll likely not keep up this average, I’m glad I have a nice word count cushion. It’s always good for me to get a cushion early in the month since my day job can (and likely will) throw a wrench into things at least once.

And despite me trying to do better with prepping, my pantser ways are working out rather nicely this NaNo round.
I clearly don’t need a map to keep this show on the road.
Next stop, 25,000 words!
Given my current daily average, I could reach this next milestone in just two days. November 7.
Will I hit 25,000 words in just one week?
We’ll see. Stay tuned.
P.S. I’m not counting the words I’ve written in the blog posts I’ve posted this week. I could count them (285 words in this post so far) because writing is writing and there really are no rules in NaNoWriMo. But the NaNoWriMo word counts I post here are all from the story I’m writing.
