NaNoWriMo Day 10 and I’m still movin’ right along. Today has been my best word count day yet!
Some way, some how, the words are still falling out of my head and flowing onto the page. Frankly, I’m surprised at how fast this story is coming together. I’m up to about 19 chapters. I still have thoughts and ideas of what needs to be added. I’ve already done some reworking, some tweaking of the story to make it work better. I wrote the big conflict scene. I’m working on the resolution and HEA (happily ever after). I have another few chapters planned out with a few notes jotted down (so I will remember what I want to do). I know where I want this story to go. And I already have thoughts about revisions.
Needless to say, this has been my craziest NaNoWriMo yet.
In previous years, I have had stellar word count days, but those days were normally balanced out by not so stellar days. In 2017, I hit 50,000 words on November 28 and in the tracker, I see a couple of days with a 0 word count. In 2021, which was my best year up until now, I hit 50,000 words on November 22. And that year, I had more that one day where I didn’t get to 1,667 words. I only had triple digit word counts.
2023 is apparently my year. I’m on track to hit 50,000 words on November 14.
That’s rights, 4 days from now! I can hardly believe it.
I’m averaging over 3,500 words a day. Three thousand five hundred. I can hardly believe it myself. And every single day, I’ve been well over 1,667 words. November 1 was my lowest day at 1,748 words. Today is my best day at 4,839.

Bars or line graph? Which do you prefer? I'm partial to the bars.
Honestly, I could write more this evening, but my brain is tired. So I’m headed to bed, hoping that NaNosomnia doesn’t try to take me again tonight. But I’ll be back at it tomorrow and I’m going to aim for 5,000 words tomorrow. The question is, will I make it? Or can I exceed it?
Tune in tomorrow to find out!
Happy writing!
