Update on 100 Books in 2022

Last week I wrote about my 2022 reading challenge. I admitted that I have 112 unread books sitting right here on my bookcase that I have not read. And that I self-imposed a book buying ban until I get to under 20 TBRs.

Well, I might have maybe, just slightly underestimated how many TBRs I really have. My underestimation maybe, might have been just a wee bit off by nearly 50%.

Let me explain.

Reading Habits

If you haven’t guessed, I spend a lot of my time reading. I’ve already read 73 books this year and it’s only week 14. (And my yearly goal is only 78!)

When I’m not reading, I’m usually thinking about, talking about, or posting about books or bookish things. And when I was thinking about book-related things, I got to thinking about reading habits.

So today I thought I’d share some of my reading habits.

Why I Won’t Condemn E-books

Last week, I attended a conference. The conference was here in D.C., so I didn’t have to travel far (just a ride on the metro). But the schedule provided 1.5 hours for lunch. So what does any good booknerd do with that much free time?

Read. (Of course. Did you even have to guess?)

And I typically carry two books with me at all times. Especially when I’m at least 50% through one.

It’s like the Boy Scouts for booknerd’s. Always be prepared (to read). (Or for you booknerds, it’s like HHGTTG—always know where your towel (book) is.)

On Thursday, I failed to be prepared. Continue reading “Why I Won’t Condemn E-books”

Book Pile – March 3

Okay, I admit I’ve been a slacker because I said this would be a “regular” post. Although, in my defense, I said it would be “somewhat” a regular post. Then again, I haven’t done a weekly book pile since the last (and only) Book Pile post, which was on January 28. Despite the fact I’ve read 16 books since January 1, I’ve only reported on 3 of them. Hence I’m a slacker.

I know, I know. Bad booknerd! [slaps my own hand] Continue reading “Book Pile – March 3”

Book Love (Or Why You Shouldn’t Ask What My Favorite Book Is)

booklove2

People who know me, whether in real life or virtually, know I love books. If they don’t know, then they don’t know me or haven’t been paying attention.

First, I read books. I know that seems obvious, but I’ve been told I read a lot. Really, I didn’t think 97 books last year was *that* many (my best year in the last 6 was 124 books, a record I still aim to beat). This especially seems average when I consider that some of my Goodread friends read 200 or even 300+ books a year.
