My Top 10 Picks for A Crew

Continuing on my #SciFiMonth journey, today I’m choosing my perfect crew for my spaceship.(Just don’t ask me for the specs of my spaceship. Talk to my engineer.)

First, I took this quiz to see what role I would have.

Not sure that’s a legit role on a spaceship, but I like the gist of the role.

But a ship needs more roles than a scout. So, here are my top 10 picks for my perfect crew.

1. Captain – there’s only 1 choice for Captain, Jean Luc Picard (Star Trek TNG). ‘Nough said. (RIP Patrick Stewart)

2. First Officer / Executive Officer (XO) – Samantha “Sam” Carter (Stargate SG-1). An excellent second-in-command who can take command when necessary.

3. Science Officer – Tricia Marie “Trillian” McMillan (Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Adams). She’s a mathematician and astrophysicist.

4. Pilot – Han Solo (Star Wars). He made the Kessel Run in just twelve parsecs.

5. Chief Engineer – Kaywinnet Lee “Kaylee” Frye (Firefly). A mechanical aptitude and the ability to fix just about anything.

6. Security Officer – David Dunn (Unbreakable). He’s a security guard with superhero abilities.

7. Doctor / Medic – Dr. Dana Scully (X-Files). Even though she’s a special agent with the FBI, she’s first a medical doctor. Plus her skepticism would be a benefit.

8. Counselor / Psychologist – While Mulder and Scully make a great team and Mulder did study psychology, I have to go with Dr. Charles Kroger (Monk). Anyone that can deal with Monk can deal with a spaceship crew.

9. Mechanic – Angus “Mac” MacGyver (MacGyver). The man can fix anything.

10. Communications Officer – Andrew Dahl (Redshirts, John Scalzi). He’s a former seminarian and expert in linguistics and xenobiology.

Who’s in your crew?
